Kamie's Korner

Poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Testimonials

Kamie MacInnes is one of those people who is a true gem and placed in your life for a reason!  Her unfaltering positive attitude and gracious manner are infectious to children and adults alike.  I’ve had the opportunity to experience first hand her influence on the young minds of today through my 9-year old daughter, Kelsi.  Mrs. MacInnes’ program of KWADs (kind words and deeds) have reinforced and extended what we teach in our family so Kelsi received clear communication that a kinder world isn’t just “the world at home according to mom and dad” but a way of living that makes life more joyful, and all of us more resilient.  Now, who couldn’t use that?

Here are a few examples of how Mrs. MacInnes’ teachings have extended outside the classroom:

  • Just this weekend, a friend of Kelsi’s invited her to play and join her family for dinner.  After the occasion, the mother commented that Kelsi was the first child guest she’d had who voluntarily cleared her plate and thanked her host for the meal and invitation.
  • Routinely, adults comment on Kelsi’s composure when she meets them, looks them in the eye and makes engaging conversation.  We’ve worked on these skills and manners at home, but Mrs. MacInnes’ reinforcement has helped ingrain them; together we’re on the road to making them life-long habits.
  • Kelsi’s kind words have become part of daily life, thanks to Mrs. MacInnes.  She has inspired Kelsi to offer compliments and gratitude regularly.  Kelsi’s noticed the positive effect her kind words and deeds have on others.   Hence, her actions return the joy to her and bring forth more kind words and deeds!

I have worked with Kamie MacInnes for 15 years at Atlantic Beach Elementary School.

Kamie is an amazing person!!  She is always jovial and finds the positive things to accentuate.  Kamie creates new and fun activities to motivate and encourage her students to do their best.  She is kind-hearted and displays care and love toward each and every one of her students.

Kamie models and teaches good manners and being thoughtful of others.  She awards those who say kind words and show kind actions toward others.

All of the children love, respect and adore her.  The teachers and adults at our school feel the same way.  She is one of a kind, a jewel, and a treasure.  We all learn from her actions and way of life.  Anyone who knows Kamie MacInnes will be positively influenced and enlightened.  Knowing Kamie has changed my life for the better.

I have had the opportunity of knowing and teaching with Mrs. MacInnes for the past 3 years.  It is very rewarding to see the positive change in the children when they finish her class.  She sets the highest standards for her students and then teaches them how to reach their goals.  Her students are taught responsibility, manners, respect, and most importantly, self-discipline.  It is always a pleasure to work with her students and see the progress they make under her tutelage.

Kamie MacInnes has been a teacher at Atlantic Beach Elementary School for many years.  I have had the pleasure of being her principal for the last 7 years.  Mrs. MacInnes is what a Teacher, with a capital “T” is supposed to be.  She can teach everything a child needs to know academically.  Her students always perform well on everyday assignments and score exceptionally on all standardized tests.  Her students are well-mannered and well-behaved in every situation.  She knows how to challenge the most gifted child and at the same time work with a child with special needs to get her/him “up to standard”.

Every once in a while you may hear a teacher say, “Oh this class is not a good group”.  That has never been the case with Mrs. MacInnes.  Every class is the “best group of children”.  I believe she is telling the truth every year because having Mrs. MacInnes makes them the “best group of children”.
